It does not look like much, but at least I got started again on drawing and sketching.
The main difference since my last sketching bursts is that drew directly on the iPad, using ProCreate and my Pogo Connect stylus.
The topic of stylus usage with the iPad is an entry I had wanted to write for a very long time on the blog, but I never got to it. Maybe I will do this in a little while.
For now I am just saying that I am quite satisfied with how drawing with a pressure sensitive stylus works on the iPad and that the results are at least promising. Like I said: the above sketches don’t look like much and I feel I can do better, but as I am honing my skills again I do appreciate the convenience of drawing on a tablet.
It is more physically appealing to draw with pencil and paper, but the power you quite literally have at your finger tips with drawing on a tablet (well, any tablet for that matter) is quite impressive, of course.
I also need to experiment more with ProCreate’s canvas formats. I was drawing on what was claimed to be an A4 300 dpi size. Checking in Photoshop revealed however that ProCreate only outputs an A5 at 300 dpi – at least when exporting a JPEG. Maybe this is different when I export a PNG or a PSD file, let’s see.
I’ll hopefully find time to sketch a little more in the next few days…
Edit Dec 29:
Exporting as PNG also results in a DIN A5 format at 300 dpi.
But the PSD export leads indeed to a true A4 at 300 dpi.
